Personal Statement My Family - 907 Words
My Home Friends are like family that you are able to choose. I never understood the truth that statement held until i met the group of people I now consider to be my best friends. For years i spent a lot of time by myself. Most of my friends were acquaintances that I only spoke to at school. As a nervous fourteen year old, high school was a lot of things in my head. Most of all it seemed lonely. My biggest fear was being all alone. Little did I know that I would acquire a bunch of loud goofballs to keep me company. My friends have become my home away from home and knowing them has changed me for the better. I suppose my familyâ⬠began with Justene Whitehead. Justene was beautiful even in seventh grade. To this day i am envious of her unique style. That girl always looks chic. We grew very close our freshmen year of high school. We were both in City Lights show choir. Justene was the only person I knew and our friendship grew very quickly. We spent a lot of our show choir class t ime trying not to laugh at each other s facial expressions in the mirrors of the choir room. She introduced me to many different people and taught me that it was okay to put myself out there and have fun. My sophomore year consisted of many new characters. The first was a tall, lanky boy with big hair. His name was Cole Nix. I adored him the moment we met. Cole is a constantly changing human being. The Reformation Question 1: What were the conditions created during the later Middle Ages which laid the groundwork for the Reformation? I have chosen to look at: the effects of the black death the ending of the feudal system the growth of humanism and science The Protestant Reformation took place in Europe, beginning in the 14th century. It was the movement in which the church established a new branch of Christianity; Protestantism. The Reformation was caused by the Western Schism, Renaissance and Clerical Corruption. Reformers such as Martin Luther, John Calvin and Henry VIII challenged the Pope and church as to whether they could sufficiently define Christian practice. They argued over religious and political distribution of power and in result of this the Counter-Reformation wars and persecutions took place. The Black Death (also known as The Bubonic Plague) surfaced in Europe in October of 1347, when twelve Genoese ships arrived in the Sicilian port of Messina. The people awaiting the ships at the port were greeted with a most unpleasant surprise; many of the people aboard the ship had died and those who were alive were greatly ill. One of the most noticeable symptoms of their illness were the black boils covering the sailors skin, hence the name ââ¬Å"The Black Deathâ⬠. Despite the people of Sicilians effortââ¬â¢s they could not stop the plague spreading and it continued to kill millions of people over the next five years. Internet and Communications in Business Management-myassignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about theInternet and Communications in Business Management. Answer: Introduction Social media is the dimension that reshapes the entire system of how people access information, picturize a particular product or service, and how people take part in the exchange of information. Deloitte has been able to grasp the complex system of the influence of social media on different sector of the society like education, marketing and advertisement and even to achieve the perfect collaboration in non-profit organizations (Goetsch Davis, 2014). As far as Deloitte is concerned with the strategic usage of social media, it has been able to enrich its existing brand image by providing the consumers with an interface on which they can interact and exchange information. Owing to the fact that social media changes the entire physical entity that evaluates peoples perception of colors, images which ultimately influence how the consumers are receiving the entire information. Deloitte like many other successful business set-ups has been successful in building up a strong presence in so cial media that has the power to facilitate many-to-many, one-to-one networking online and enhanced its marketing strategy with the several advantageous aspects of the media like the concept of file sharing, and network structuring. Discussion What facilitated the popularity of Deloittes social media interaction and engagement is the fact that it allowed the customers to interact in a more candid manner against the backdrop of the brand Deloitte that further strengthened the image of the company. As far as internal organization of Deloitte is concerned it has also spared adequate attention to keep their employees motivated and therefore has devised strategies to incorporate social media in internal communication. With the support of application developers Deloitte has also been able to make use of apps especially tailored to suit the companys needs and preferences (Goetsch Davis, 2014). The platform has allowed the employees to engage themselves into conversation at the most grassroots level. As Deloitte deals extensively with finance and data, it has the responsibility to maintain much more secured social media campaign that would not consequent in data breach or disclosure of sensitive data do not take place (Stieglitz et al., 2014). Therefore, at this juncture Deloitte has launched a rather effective internal communication system The concept of social media and internal communication at Deloitte Deloitte has successfully demonstrated the strength of internal communication and its potential impact on the employees. The internal social media communication has led to an effective collaboration between the different departments, increasing the employees knowledge regarding the organization. As per data social media would be responsible for enhancing the overall performance of any business organization in the upcoming years (Coombs Holladay, 2018). Deloittes social media usage for the purpose of internal organizational communication is largely depended on three core areas which are content development, social interaction and improved technology which allows the data and content to be solely accessed by the employees of the organization. How Deloitte has been able to change the communication system within the organizational structure is by the thorough management of messages, important files, links and pdf accessed or edited by any employees working in the organization. This has enabled in achieving a thorough authentication of the employee access, and assurance that not unauthenticated third party users are accessing the important files of the company. According to the opinion of Grajales III et al., (2014) Deloitte has gained the utmost commitment of the employees in achieving the corporate objectives that Deloitte has set for itself. Over the years, the effective internal communicational process that Deloitte has ensured with the help of social media has enabled them to communicate organization issues in order to solve them in a simplified manner, share organizational insights that would assure greater efficiency in organizational operation amongst the different departments. Market analysts have also provided a di rectly proportional relationship with social media internal communication and employee engagement with the organization since it brings together people on a common ideological platform of the organization (Tuten Solomon, 2017). This particularly contributes to employee participation achieved with the help of tools like wikis, blog posts, forums, microblogs, activity feeds and file repositories has improved the entire experience of social media based internal communication system (Coombs Holladay, 2018). One of the many advantageous facet of social media based internal communication is the fact that it allocate for is the extensive environment of debate and conversation via which they are able to keep the company ahead in the market with an awareness regarding the changing trends in the market. It could serve as unique platform where Deloitte with the help of extensive measures can bring together employees belonging from different background and exchange different perspectives regarding Deloitte (Archer-Brown Kietzmann, 2018). However it additionally has the disadvantage of conflict amongst employees who possess different viewpoints and ideas regarding the same. This uncertainties and conflicts can however be avoided if the company is providing adequate amount of training to the employees that would help them to align their skills and objectives with Deloittes (Moreno et al., 2015). With the entire phenomenon of social media usage for the benefit and acceleration of internal communi cation there are certain risks associated as far the opinions of market researchers are concerned. Deloitte should be able to spare attention whether the process of a smoothened internal communication is reducing employee productivity or making them less direct or shying them away from confrontations unless and until they are taking place virtually. This would necessarily have a deep impact on the overall organizational behavior of Deloitte. Conclusion From the above discussion it can be concluded that successful implementation of social media for a more professional usage by Deloitte can only be achieved if it is culture-oriented and with an awareness program amongst the employees regarding the core values of the entire process. The employees should be assessed in such a manner as to assure they are not misguided by the medium. It can be firmly asserted that Deloitte should be focused whether employees are utilizing social media as a backbone for improving their work, implementing new strategies and ideas and using as a means to provide new insights on the operations of Deloitte. Recommendations Deloitte should be aware of the possible risks of spamming on company information and data as well as identity threat. It can therefore implement strategies like hiring data security experts and implanting a SPAM filter that can automatically detect blank senders and viruses (Moreno et al., 2015). Training programs regarding ethical issues and policies of data sharing and penalties should be provided to the employees from beforehand. The company should also ensure that all the information are kept transparent within the employees. The employees should also be provided with extensive training regarding the case of data loss and its possible prevention, password protection methods and therefore bringing a degree of clarity on the entire process of communication. Deloitte apart from emphasizing on the consistency of social media for sharing information should also make space for a platform where different employees will be able to share creative ideas relevant to the departments. This will not only provide a space for the blooming of merit but also motivate the other employees to contribute with their share of inventive ideas that would help in the operational process of Deloitte (Tuten Solomon, 2017). Letter from Birmingham Jail Mlk free essay sample
In the Letter From Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King Jr. creates a powerful response to a statements from eight white Alabama clergymen opposing his sit-ins and marches in Birmingham, Alabama. In the letter King is defending his peaceful demonstrations and stance on nonviolence. According to the clergymen, everyone should live life by common sense and by law and order and feel that the battle for integration should take place in the local and federal courts and not by breaking the law. King agrees to a point, but feels that there are just and unjust laws.He believes segregation laws are unjust because they negatively affect African Americans and make them inferior to white people. When negotiation fails, direct action is needed to establish creative tension and issues need to be dramatized so that they can no longer be ignored. This is why he organizes a peaceful direct action parade and protest which helps advance the Civil Rights Movement. We will write a custom essay sample on Letter from Birmingham Jail Mlk or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page He is arrested on the charge of violating Alabamaââ¬â¢s law against mass public demonstrations and this letter is written while he is in the Birmingham jail.King uses many different types of literature devices in his letter. He uses imagery, biblical references, repetition, and other techniques in his writing style to convey his message to his audience. You can sense Kingââ¬â¢s emotion and anger at what the clergymen say about the Civil Rights events. Since King is a preacher and is communicating to a fellow group of clergymen, he appropriately uses biblical references which draw a tighter connection to his audience. The clergymen are more educated so King uses a higher level of writing style. King also incorporates a tone of sarcasm at times with his statements. He skillfully develops compelling messages that support nonviolent civil disobedience as a way of overcoming segregation and racism and wants to convince his audience that it is ok to protest against unjust laws. The Civil Right Movement during the 1960s focuses on eliminating segregation and prejudice. King writes about the emotional suffrage the black population goes through such as police brutality, the lynching, drowning and kicking of black fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters. In order to fully explain this suffering, King uses graphic illustrations to highlight the problems. Like a boil that can never be cured as long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its pus-flowing ugliness to the natural medicines of air and lightâ⬠(King 91). King is using imagery to show` that injustice is exposed just like a boil is exposed. If it is never brought up, injustice will never go away. In order for the boil to go away, people have to see the boil; you cannot just cover it up. King wants the audience to realize that they cannot cover up all the problems and act like nothing is wrong; the problems will all eventually spill out.People have to see injustice, know that it is going on, or experience it in order for them to stop injustice. By using imagery King wants the audience to see how the white population punishes the black population and how the black population misses out on things. ââ¬Å"When you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you seek to explain to your six-year-old daughter why she canââ¬â¢t go to the public amusement park that has just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Funtown is closed to colored childrenâ⬠(King 88).King uses this type of imagery so the reader will have a better understanding of what the black population has to go through and how this is creating a bitterness towards white people. Another effective literature device that King uses throughout his entire letter is repetition. The first words King repeats is direct action. King strongly believes in direct action, which is why he repeats it multiple times. He is trying to spread the idea of nonviolence as the way to address the issues and wants to ensure his audience knows that this requires direct action; they just canââ¬â¢t sit back and wait for change to occur. Repetition is also used when King repeats I am and I would. He is very angry that the clergymen sent him the letter so he uses these words in a sarcastic manner as in the sentence ââ¬Å"I am sure that each of you would want to go beyond the superficial social analyst who looks merely at effects, and does not grapple with underlying causeâ⬠(King 85). Another word King repeats throughout a majority of his letter is unjust. King hates that the black population gets treated unfairly and he wants his point to be very clear. In order for the audience to pick up on things he repeats unjust multiple times. Doctor Martin Luther King uses a unique type of writing style in his letter. In the letter King says he got invited to jail not that he is sent to jail. Since King stands up for what he believes in, he gets sent to jail. He strongly believes in integration and nonviolence and wants not only the clergymen, but the world to know the issues he is protesting about. A part of Kingââ¬â¢s writing style is pointing his finger at certain people. When King ays, ââ¬Å"You deplore the demonstrations that are presently taking place in Birminghamâ⬠(King 85). By using his clever writing style King, points his finger at the eight clergymen. King is saying that it is the clergymenââ¬â¢s fault and responsibility that he is in jail. The clergymen should feel the anger in Kingââ¬â¢s writing. To make his writing more interesting he uses numbers instead of separating the four basic steps of the nonviolent campaign with commas. By King using numbers he gets to the point faster in his writing. If someone was scanning the page they would see the numbered list and most likely read that list because it is something different from the normal text on a page. Another writing tool King uses is directly pointing out the flaws in the clergymenââ¬â¢s views and explaining exactly why he is disappointed in them. King also adds questions to the letter. These questions are ones in which he believes are on peopleââ¬â¢s minds such as, are you able to endure the ordeals of jail, are you able to accept the blows without retaliating, why direct action, why sit-ins, etc.King puts questions into his letter so the audience will become more curious and continue reading to see his responses. A way Kingââ¬â¢s writing style is changing throughout the letter is towards the end when King is stating exactly what unjust laws and just laws are, to make sure everyone is on the same page. King is not sugar coating anything for the readers. Finally, a writing style approach that King takes is giving exact names of people that feel the same way he does.King is showing that he is not the only person who feels this way. He is showing the audience that there are other people that believe in the same values that he does. Martin Luther King is a preacher and uses biblical references to draw the connection to his audience which is a fellow group of clergymen. King talks about Martin Buber, Saint Augustine, and Saint Thomas Aquinas in his letter. The clergymen look up to these significant men. The Saints would be ashamed of the clergymen for having unjust views. The clergymen are disrespecting their Saints and should realize what they have done wrong. King also talks about the injustice that is going on in Birmingham, Alabama which is why he is there. Dr. King refers to the, ââ¬Å"eighth-century prophets left their little villages and carried their ââ¬Å"thus saith the Lordâ⬠far beyond the boundaries of their hometownsâ⬠(King 84). This is saying that the prophets left their hometowns to spread the word of the Lord, just like Apostle Paul left his illage and spread the word of Jesus Christ to practically every city of the Graeco-Roman world. Now King left his hometown to spread the word of freedom. In conclusion, King uses a multitude of literary devices to convey a strong response to the statement from the clergymen, in the Letter From Birmingham Jail. By using all aspects of literary devices it shows us the emotions felt by King and makes the point that injustice should not be tolerated by Americans. King uses biblical references since he is a preacher.King tells us how the prophets would leave their hometown and spread the word about the Lord and how he leaves his own hometown to spread the word of freedom. He gives a vivid image of a little colored girl that cannot go to an amusement park because she is black. King gives us this image to make the white population of his time feel bad for what they are doing. Finally Martin Luther King uses a different type of writing style throughout the document including numbers, questions, and statements to grab the readerââ¬â¢s attention so they want to read more.

Why You Should Say Thank You Instead of Sorry
Why You Should Say Thank You Instead of Sorry Most people say ââ¬Å"sorryâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m sorryâ⬠too often- women in particular. Youââ¬â¢re probably aware of whether this is an issue for you. And yes, some situations do call for a true apology: if you bump into someone or youââ¬â¢re expressing sympathy, sorry away! Ditto if youââ¬â¢re expressing genuine regret for a mistake you made. But not all situations call for your apology! Over apologizing can lead others to doubt you or lose confidence in your abilities.
